Field Yates of ESPN reports that the Ravens have placed DT Michael Pierce on the non-football injury list on Friday for the start of training camp.
Pierce was previously removed from the practice field after being out of shape during the team’s OTA workouts.
The Ravens are known to have somewhat tough conditioning standards for their players to open camp, which explains why they placed four rookies on the NFI list yesterday and another player on the PUP list.
Pierce, 26, wound up signing on with the Ravens as an undrafted free agent out of Samford. He played out the final year of his three-year rookie contract before returning to the Ravens this offseason on a second-round restricted tender.
Pierce will be an unrestricted free agent in 2020.
In 2018, Pierce appeared in 14 games for the Ravens and recorded 32 tackles, no sacks, a fumble recovery and a pass defense.
