Mike Klis of theย Denver Postย reports that the Ravens have reached an agreement with free agentย DE/OLB Elvis Dumervil.
Dumervil, 29, reportedly receives a five year deal that could worth as much as $35 million.
Recent reportsย indicatedย that the Broncos and Ravens were the main suitors for Dumervil, but it seemed as though a return to Denver was the most likely scenario. The Broncos were dealing with the fact that they incurred nearly $5 million in dead money following the fax fiasco, which left them in a toughย financialย position.
Baltimore had to find some help on the defensive side of the ball and this will move should really help. Dumervil is a pretty solid pass rusher who will now be asked to fill the void left by Paul Kruger signing with the Browns. A switch to a 3-4 defense could actually be a good thing forย Dumervil given that he put up the best numbers of his career while playing in that system a few years ago.
We have him listed as the No. 1 player in ourย recently updatedย Top 50 Free Agentsย list.
