The Baltimore Ravens announced the release of RB Bernard Pierce just a few hours after the news broke that he had beenย arrested and charged with DUI.

Pierce, 23, still had one year remaining on his four-year, $2,655,500 rookie contract, which included a base salary ofย $660,000 for the 2015 season.
According toย OverTheCap.com, releasing Pierceย will free up $660,000 in cap space next year while also create $138,986ย in dead money.
In 2014, Pierce ran for 366 yards on 93 carries (3.9 YPC) to go along with two receptions for 13 yards receiving and two touchdown.ย Pro Football Focusย has himย down for playing just 160 snaps, even though they were in desperate need of running back help to start the season.
