Dam Pompei of the National Football Post reports that the Ravens are “pushing hard” to get restricted free agent CB Lardarius Webb signed to a long-term contract extension.
Webb is coming off of an incredible season for the Ravens and would have drawn a ton of interest had he been an unrestricted free agent and actually reached the open market but thankfully for the Ravens he’s limited in his opportunities.
Ravens GM Ozzie Newsome seemed to be optimistic that they’ll be able to get a long-term extension done with QB Joe Flacco in the near future.
“Sometimes in negotiations, it can be done in two days or it can take 12 months,” Newsome said, via National Football Post. “I think there is a willingness with (Flacco) to try and get the deal done. We’re going to push toward that.”
Yesterday’s talks were referred to as being “productive” in nature and the team expects to build on their progress in teh coming days.
