Richards was signed in October last season following his release from the Patriots, who dropped him to pick up special teams ace Justin Bethel after he was released from Baltimore. Richards effectively took Bethel’s role on special teams.
Richards, 27, is a former second-round pick of the Patriots back in 2015. The Patriots traded him to the Falcons in 2018 for a conditional seventh-round pick.
Richards played out the final year of his four-year, $3.711 million contract and made a base salary of $705,000 for the 2018 season. He signed a one-year deal with the Raiders in 2019 but was released coming out of the preseason.
Richards caught on with New England but was released after just a few weeks. He signed with the Ravens in October.
In 2019, Richards appeared in three games for the Patriots and nine games for the Ravens. He finished with six total tackles and recovered a fumble for a touchdown on special teams.
