Should Jaguars free agent WR Allen Robinson test the open market next week, JP Finlay says that the Redskins will likely be among the interested teams based on his conversations with NFL sources.
- John Keim adds that the Redskins are also interested in WRย Paul Richardsonย among others.
Washington has made it clear that they need more help at receiver and Robinson would, arguably, be the best available option, even though he’s coming off of a torn ACL.
A few weeks ago,ย Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reported that the Jaguars are now expected to turn their attention to signing Robinson to a long-term extension.
However, Robinson toldย Mike Kayeย that he has not discussed a contract extension with the team since last year’s training camp.
Franchising Robinson would cost the Jaguars around $16 million fully guaranteed for the 2018 season.
Should Robinson end up testing the open market, Rapoport expects him to be one of the more coveted free agents this offseason. As long as everything checks out with Robinson’s knee, Rapoport says that the Bears, 49ers, Redskins and possibly the Raiders are likely to be among the teams in need of receiver help.
Robinson, 24, is a former second-round pick by the Jaguars in the 2014 NFL Draft. He played out the final year of a four-year, $3.510 million rookie contract and made a base salary ofย $898,755 for the 2017 season.
Robinson is now in position to test the open market for the first time in hisย NFL career.
In 2017, Robinson appeared in one game and caught one pass for 17 yards and no touchdowns.
We have him featured in our Top 100 ย โ 2018 NFL Free Agents list.
