Redskins & Executive Eric Schaffer Agree To Part Ways

According to Ian Rapoport, the Redskins and senior VP of football operations Eric Schaffer have agreed to part ways.

Schaffer’s contract with the team ran through the end of the draft in May, contrary to other reports that said the team had already fired him after hiring new HC Ron Rivera. Now, however, it appears he actually may be out.

There had been some reports that Schaffer could see a bigger role with the team following the firing of GM Bruce Allen.

Instead, Schaffer is the latest member of the organization to be shown the door as Washington owner Dan Snyder continues to try to reset the organizational culture.

Schaffer had been with the Redskins for the past 17 years and has been Washington’s chief contract negotiator and salary cap planner, as well as the team’s general counsel. He was promoted to his current title in 2017.
