Redskins Fire GM Bruce Allen

The Redskins announced on Monday that team president and general manager Bruce Allen has been fired and is no longer with the team.

“As this season concludes, Bruce Allen has been relieved of his duties as President of the Washington Redskins and is no longer with the organization,” Redskins owner Dan Snyder said in a statement. “Like our passionate fan base, I recognize we have not lived up to the high standards set by great Redskins teams, coaches and players who have come before us. As we reevaluate our team leadership, culture and process for winning football games, I am excited for the opportunities that lie ahead to renew our singular focus and purpose of bringing championship football back to Washington D.C.”

Allen has managed to hold on far longer than many expected in Washington which led to speculation he could remain involved on the business side of the team despite being ousted as GM.

In the end, Snyder elected to make a clean break as he looks to rebuild his franchise.

Allen worked for the Raiders from 1995 to 2002 before joining the Buccaneers for the 2003 season. The Redskins hired Allen as their GM back in 2009 and later promoted him to president in 2014.

During his time with the Redskins, the team has produced a record of 45-83 (35.4), which includes one playoff appearance.
