Redskins Place S Montae Nicholson On IR, Promote S Fish Smithson

The Washington Redskins announced Tuesday that they’ve placed S Montae Nicholson on injured reserve and promoted S Fish Smithson to their active roster.

• The Redskins also signed DL Tavaris Barnes to their practice squad.

The Redskins’ practice squad now consists of:

Nicholson, 22, was taken in the fourth round of this year’s NFL draft by the Redskins. He signed a four-year, $3.01 million contract with the Redskins and stands to make base salaries of $555,000 and $645,000 over the next two years of the agreement.

In 2017, Nicholson appeared in eight games for the Redskins and recorded 24 tackles, one interception and two pass defenses.
