Adam Schefter reports that the Redskins are placing TE Jordan Reed on injured reserve.
- According to Adam Caplan, the Redskins promoted S Jeremy Reaves from their practice squad in a corresponding roster move.
Last month, Schefter reported that Reed’s NFL career could be in jeopardy after suffering his latest concussion, so this is clearly a bad sign toward his recovery.
Although Reed continued testing, Schefter said: “the player, the team and doctors know what he is up against.”
Reed is estimated to have sustained seven concussions since entering the NFL.
Reed, 28, was taken in the third round of the 2013 NFL draft by the Redskins. He was in the final year of his rookie contract when he signed a six-year, $48 million deal that included $22 million guaranteed with Washington.
Reed stands to make base salaries of $7.67 million and $8.25 million over the next two years of the agreement.
In 2018, Reed appeared in 13 games and caught 54 passes for 558 yards receiving and two touchdowns.
