Redskins Releasing K Kai Forbath & Signing Dustin Hopkins

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that the Redskins plan to release K Kai Forbath and sign former Saints and Bills K Dustin Hopkins to a contract.

Forbath, 28, originally signed on with the Cowboys as an undrafted free agent out of back in 2011. He lasted a around eight months with the team before he was placed on waivers and later claimed by the Redskins.

Washington placed an original round tender on Forbath back in March that would have paid him $1,542,000 for the 2015 season.

Forbath wound up missing one of his two field goal attempts against the Dolphins in Week 1. He added an extra point and a touchback.

Hopkins, 24, is a former sixth-round pick of the Bills back in 2013. He lasted just over a year in Buffalo before he later caught on with the Saints towards the end of last year.

New Orleans elected to cut Hopkins in their first round of cuts a little over a week ago.

Hopkins has yet to appear in an NFL game.
