The Washington Redskins announced Tuesday that they’ve signed veteran Cย Brian de la Puente andย placed Kory Lichtensteiger onย injured reserve with the designated to return.
De la Puente was among six players who worked out for Washington on Monday including:ย RB Cyrus Gray, RB Storm Johnsonย WR LaRon Byrd, LB Carlos Fields and DL Anthony Johnson.
De La Puente, 30, originally signed on with the 49ers as an undrafted free agent out of California back in 2008. He’s since played for several teams including the Chiefs, Seahawks, Panthers, Saints and most recently for the Bears.
Unfortunately forย De La Puente, he was placed on season-endingย injured reserve close to a year ago and didn’t generate much interest in free agency.
Last year, he appeared in eight games and was rated by Pro Football Focus as the No. 8 center out of 41 qualifying players.
Lichtensteiger, 30, is in third year of his ย five-year, $17.5 million contractย thatย included a $2.75 million signing bonus. He stands to make base salaries of $3.5 million (2015), andย $3.25 million (2016-2017) over the remainder of the contract.
