Redskins Starting Josh Johnson At QB In Week 15

Following Sunday’s terrible loss to the Giants, Redskins HC Jay Gruden announced that Josh Johnson will start for them at quarterback in Week 15, per JP Finlay.

Gruden added that he doesn’t expect any changes this week to his coaching staff.

Washington benched Mark Sanchez for Johnson in the third quarter of Sunday’s game after they were down 40-0 at home.

Johnson managed to move the ball and finished Sunday’s game completing 11 of 16 pass attempts for 195 yards, one touchdown and an interception. He also rushed for 45 yards and a touchdown.

Johnson, 32, is a former fifth-round pick of the Buccaneers back in 2012. Since then, Johnson has played for a number of teams including the 49ers, Browns, Bengals, Chargers, Jets, Colts, Bills, Ravens and Giants before catching on with Texans last season and finishing out the year in Houston.

The Raiders signed Johnson to a contract this past March only to cut him loose a few weeks after this year’s draft.

Johnson was selected with the No. 1 overall pick by the San Diego Fleet of the Alliance of American Football before signing on with the Redskins last week.
