Redskins Waive WRs ArDarius Stewart & Carlos Henderson

The Washington Redskins announced Monday that they’ve waived WRs ArDarius Stewart and Carlos Henderson.

The Redskins just signed both players to futures contracts for the 2019 season, so it’s somewhat strange to see them move on a week later.

Stewart, 24, is a former third-round pick of Jets back in 2017. He was in the second year of his four-year, $3.25 million contract and set to make base salaries of $592,500 and $688,750 over the next two years of the agreement when the Jets waived him a few days ago.

The Jets actually had to a roster exemption for Stewart before they cut him loose after he completed his two-game suspension for violating the league’s PED policy and he later re-signed to their practice squad.

New York eventually released him with an injury settlement and he later signed on to the Raiders’ practice squad. However, he lasted just a few weeks in Oakland before signing on to the Redskins’ practice squad.

In 2017, Stewart appeared in 15 games for the Jets and caught just six passes for 82 yards receiving and no touchdowns. He also rushed for 27 yards and contributed 173 kick return yards on special teams.

Henderson, 24, was selected with the No. 82 overall pick by the Broncos in the 2017 NFL draft. He signed a four-year, $3.32 million contract with the Broncos and was set to make base salaries of $555,000 and $645,000 over the next two years of the agreement when he was waived during roster cuts.

The Broncos re-signed Henderson to their practice squad and he served his one-game suspension to open the season, only to release him soon after. Henderson later signed on to the Redskins’ practice squad.

During his three-year college career at Louisiana Tech, Henderson recorded 147 receptions for 2,878 yards receiving (19.6 YPR) for 28 touchdowns. He also finished with 32 rushing attempts for 259 yards (8.1 YPC) and two touchdowns.
