Jenna Laine of Sports Talk Florida reports that Buccaneers G Carl Nicks will undergo surgery on Tuesday to clean out the MRSA infection in his foot.

  • Laine adds that there’s currently no timetable for Nicks’ return.

The Buccaneers have had three players effected by MRSA infections, so hopefully this is the last we hear of this.

Mike Garafolo reports that recent cultures taken from Buccaneers G Carl Nicks foot still show that he has an MRSA infection.

  • Garafolo adds that this is believed to be a reoccurrence of the infection.
  • Bucs GM Mark Dominik told FOX Sports that they have an infectious disease specialist working Nicks.

Nicks, 28, missed the first two games of the season after an MRSA infection broke out in the Buccaneers locker room. K Lawrence Tynes also contracted the infection.

Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports recently reported that three Bucs players also contracted staph infections around the same time as well.

These infections are very serious, so this could cost Nicks some more time this season. Things can’t get much worse for the Buc’s 2013 season as they are currently 0-4 and have already released their starting quarterback Josh Freeman.

We’ll have more regarding Nicks’ status as the news is available.
