Rand Getlin of Yahoo Sports reports that the Cardinals are bringing in veteran DT Isaac Sopoaga for a workout.

  • Getlin adds that the assumption is that the Cardinals plan sign him to a contract.

The Cardinals tried to bring in veteran DE Brett Keisel, but he elected to return to Pittsburgh. Arizona unfortunately lose DE Darnell Dockett to a season-ending knee injury, so they clearly could use some depth up front.

Sopoaga, 32, was released by the Patriots back in March and has found no reported interest as a free agent.

The Patriots sent a 2014 fifth-round pick to the Eagles in return for Sopoaga and a 2014 sixth-round pick last year.

He would go on to appear in 14 games and total 12 tackles and a single sack. According to Pro Football Focus, he played just 120 snaps last year and was rated as a below-average defensive tackle.
