Charean Williams of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports that the Cowboys have reached an agreement with former Raiders RBย Darren McFadden on a two-year deal pending a physical.
- Todd Archer reports thatย McFadden’sย two-year deal worth up to $5.85 million and includes a $200,000 signing bonus.
This is a really surprising move from the Cowboys, seeing as they had been connected to free agents like Stevan Ridley and C.J. Spiller in recent days.
It appears as though they’re bargain shopping for upside at the running back position. It still wouldn’t be surprising to see the Cowboys grab a running back in the draft, rather than rely on McFadden entering the 2015 season.
As of now, the Cowboys have Lance Dunbar, Joseph Randle, and Ryan Williams on their roster as well.
McFadden, 27, is a former first-round pick of the Raiders, who never lived up to his draft status.
In 2014, McFadden appeared in all 16 games for the Raiders, but was largely ineffective as he ran for 534 yards on 155 carries (3.4 YPC) to go along with 36 receptions for 212 yards receiving and two total touchdowns.ย Pro Football Focusย has him rated as the No. 53ย running backย out of 57ย qualifying players.
