Jordan Schultz is reporting that the Dolphins have signed S Reshad Jones to a five-year contract extension.
- Adam Schefter reports that Jones receives a five-year, $60 million extension that includes $35 million guaranteed.
Jones has been looking for an extension from the Dolphins for some time now. It’s likely that this deal will leave him among the highest paid safeties in the NFL.
Jones, 29, is a former fifth-round pick of the Dolphins back in 2010. He’s currently in the final year of his five-year, $30.81 million contract that includes $15 million guaranteed and stands to make a base salary of $7.06 million for the 2017 season.
In 2016, Jones has appeared in six games for the Dolphins and recorded 51 tackles, one interception, a half sack and four pass defenses. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 6ย safety out of 89 qualifying players.
