- Eagles’ PR have confirmed that Chip Kelly will be their next head coach.
- Mike Garafolo reports that Kellyย had a “change of heart” yesterday.
Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie:
โChip Kelly will be an outstanding head coach for the Eagles. He has a brilliant football mind.“
Jay Glazer reports that after talks between Notre Dame HCย Brian Kelly and the Eagles broke down, they restarted their talks with Chip Kelly, but the discussions “never got serious until last 24 hours.”
This news comes out of nowhere as Kelly opted to remain at Oregon a few weeks ago. Kelly was reportedly interested in the Eagles job all along, but it makes you wonder what forced him to reconsider his decision to remain at Oregon. Eagles’ owner Jeffery Lurie may have upped his offer or potential NCAA sanctions could have played a part in Kelly’s decision, but that’s based purely onย speculation.
