Report: Eagles Tried To Trade For Bills RB C.J. Spiller Before Acquiring Darren Sproles

Geoff Mosher of CSN Philly, citing league sources, reports that the Eagles reached out the Bills regarding a potential trade for RB C.J. Spiller.

  • Mosher’s sources mentioned that the Bills “weren’t interested” trading Spiller.
  • Trade talks between the two parties “never heightened into an offer,” according to Mosher.

This was, of course, before the Eagles discussed a trade with the Saints for veteran RB Darren Sproles.

Mosher mentions that the Eagles likely reached out to Buffalo in February before the ultimately traded for Sproles.

Spiller, 26, still has two years remaining on his six-year, $39.3 million contract. Last year, he appeared in 15 games and totaled 927 yards rushing on 201 carries (4.6 YPC) and two touchdowns.

However, Pro Football Focus rated him as the No. 51 running back in the league out of 55 qualifying players last year.
