Report: Fred Davis to Visit the Buffalo Bills This Week

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Buffalo Bills are making progress in attracting free agent tight end Fred Davis to sign with the club.

Schefter’s tweet states Davis is scheduled to visit with Buffalo on Wednesday. This news comes on the heels of a report earlier Sunday that Davis met with various members of the Bills front office the night prior in Washington, D.C.

Head coach Doug Marrone, General Manager Buddy Nix, Assistant General Manager Doug Whaley and others were reportedly in attendance for the dinner.

Schefter further states that the Jets and Redskins remained interested in Davis’ services.

Buffalo would greatly benefit from the addition of a play-making tight end such as Davis. Aside from receiver Steve Johnson and tight end Scott Chandler, the Bills offense lacks star power, especially with the loss of Ryan Fitzpatrick under center.

Health is somewhat of a concern for Davis as well, as he is coming off a significant injury last season. The Redskins placed Davis on injured reserve back on October 22 after suffering a torn left Achilles’ tendon.

Davis, 27, has spent his entire five years in the NFL as a member of the Washington Redskins. He set career highs for receptions (59) and receiving yards (796) during the 2011 campaign.
