Joe Person of the Charlotte Observer reports that free agent S Thomas DeCoud is still in talks with the Panthers regarding an agreement.
However, Person adds that there is not a deal in place at this point in time.
- Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network first reported that DeCoud was visiting with the Panthers on Monday.
DeCoud visited with the Lions, but they ultimately elected to sign James Ihedigbo instead. The Cowboys, Raiders and Ravens have reportedly showed interest in DeCoud as well.
DeCoud, 28, was cut loose by the Falcons a few months ago, but his market has been slow developing, despite being a Pro Bowler two years ago.
The Panthers need some depth in their secondary, and DeCoud could prove to be a good value signing for them.
Last year, he totaled 65 tackles and a fumble recovery returned for a touchdown. Pro Football Focus has DeCoud rated as the No. 83 safety in the league out of 86 players qualifying players last season.
