Mike Garafolo reports that the Giants released LB Michael Boley on Tuesday.
Garafolo adds that the move was somewhat surprising given that they could have approached him regarding a pay cut.
Boley, 30, was benched for the final three games of the season, so his $4.25 million salary was an obvious target to be cut. He signed a five-year, $25 million contract back in 2009. This move will save the Giants $3.1 million in cap space, according Adam Caplan.
Pro Football Focus rated him as one of the worst qualifying 4-3 outside linebackers in the league.
