Josh Kendall ofย The State reports that South Carolina DE Jadeveonย Clowney has individual workouts scheduled with Rams and Falcons.
- Texans HC Bill O’Brien mentioned that theyย may bring Clowneyย in for a workout as well.
Clowney’s Pro Day was this morning and it appears as though he was as impressive as many would have expected him to be.
O’Brien mentioned that Clowney had a “good day,” but added that No. 1 pick “still wide open,” per Kendall.
Mike Mayock of the NFL Network was particularly impressed with Clowney’s performance on Wednesday.
“I fully believe Clowney is most talented player in this draft … last draft … and next year’s draft,” Mayock said, via College Football 24/7. “If Texans don’t trade 1st overall pick, I think Clowney is too hard to pass up.”
Clowney lit up the Combine with a ridiculous forty time ofย 4.53 and it appears as though he has only boosted his draft stock in recent weeks.
The Texans clearly need a long-term prospect to build around and have reportedly entertained the idea of trading out of the first overall selection. However, it would be pretty tough to pass up an opportunity to pair Clowney with, arguably, the best defensive end in the NFL in J.J. Watt.
It makes sense for the Rams and Falcons to do their due diligence on Clowney in the event that the Texans pass on him at No. 1 overall.
