Sources with direct knowledge tell TMZ Sports that Jay-Z is going to have a “significant ownership interest” in an NFL team at some point in the future.
It remains to be seen what team Jay-Z will be involved with, but TMZ reports that “it is going to happen in the near future.”
TMZ adds that Jay-Z is interested in this venture “because he’s a huge fan, already has a sports business and wants to continue to be a change agent for the NFL.”
There have been questions about Jay-Z’s involved with Roc Nation, which represents some NFL players.
TMZ’s source said of the concerns: “Jay is not an NFL agent and does not take part in the operations of the NFL players in Roc Nation.”
Jay-Z was a minority owner of the Brooklyn Nets before selling his stake back in 2013.
This comes a few days after the NFL and Jay-Z announced a music and social justice campaign partnership.
