Report: Jets Will Not Take A QB In Round One

Rich Cimini of ESPN New York reports that the “buzz around the league” is that Jets will not take a quarterback in round one.

Cimini adds that the Jets like both Geno Smith and Ryan Nassib, so it will be interesting to see if they’re willing to move back into the first-round to secure a quarterback or if they’re willing to wait it out in the second-round.

Tony Pauline of TFY Draft Insider reports that sources have informed him that the Jets will consider drafting quarterback with an “early choice.

Pauline adds that Jets GM John Idzik, “fear missing on one of the quarterbacks in this draft.

It was explained to Pauline that the team doesn’t expect to win this season, so it really doesn’t matter who is starting for them in 2013. There’s been rumors circulating today that the Bills are concerned about the Jets and Jaguars taking Syracuse QB Ryan Nassib ahead of them, which further indicates that he’s in play for Buffalo at No. 8 overall.

The Jets figure to be one of the more interesting teams to follow in the early rounds of this year’s draft.
