Aaron Wilson of the National Football Post reports that the Jets are signing former Buccaneers RB Michael Smith to a contract.
Smith, 25, was a seventh-round pick of the Buccaneers out of Utah State back in 2012, but he was placed on waivers this past may.
Smith appeared in just one game for the team during his rookie season and unfortunately suffered a season-ending injury at the start of last year.
The Jets backfield is fairly deep as they currently have Chris Johnson, Bilal Powell, Chris Ivory, Daryl Richardson, Alex Green and John Griffin on their roster.
