Raiders Discussing Trade For Yannick Ngakoue, But Jaguars “Want Too Much”

Update:

Vic Tafur also reports that the Raiders are “kicking the tires” on trading for Jaguars franchise DE Yannick Ngakoue, but no deal is close at this time.

Tafur doesn’t believe talks have gotten to the point where they’re going back and forth on compensation yet. Ngakoue would have to sign his franchise tender for him to be traded, but Tafur says the Raiders could free cap space quickly if need be.

Pro Football Talk confirmed a report from Charlie Campbell of WalterFootball.com stating the Raiders have offered Jacksonville the No. 19 pick in the first round for DE Yannick Ngakoue

However, PFT’s source says the Jaguars “want too much” for Ngakoue. Jacksonville is asking for Las Vegas’ other first-round pick, No. 12 overall, in exchange for Ngakoue.

Campbell adds the Raiders are hopeful the Jaguars’ trade demands will come down as they realize this is the best offer they’re going to get for the disgruntled pass rusher.

Ian Rapoport reports the clock is running out on a potential deal before the first round begins tonight, as Ngakoue also has to sign his tender and potentially work out an extension with his new team.

Trade talks had stalled up until recently, leading to a blowup between Ngakoue and team co-owner Tony Khan on Twitter earlier this week. Jacksonville reportedly had no offers for Ngakoue until now.

Jacksonville has been reportedly asking for at least a first-round pick to move on from Ngakoue. While they’ve fielded interest from some teams, they have made it clear they don’t intend to give him away.

Combined with Ngakoue’s desire for a new deal, that makes trade discussions a little more complex.

The Jaguars officially used their franchise tag on Ngakoue, which will cost around $17.9 million fully guaranteed for the 2020 season. However, Ngakoue has yet to sign the tender.

Ngakoue, 25, is a former third-round pick of the Jaguars back in 2016. He played out the final year of his four-year, $3.48 million contract and made a base salary of $834,269 for the 2019 season.

In 2019, Ngakoue appeared in 15 games for the Jaguars and recorded 41 tackles, eight sacks, an interception, a defensive touchdown, four forced fumbles, a recovery and six passes defended. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 36 edge rusher out of 107 qualifying players.

Weโ€™ll have more regarding Ngakoue as the news is available.

  1. If you are the Jags, you take that #19 and get away from crybaby Ngokoue, who is just a malcontent at this point. Send him to the raiders โ€œwinning cultureโ€ that he wants so bad.

    • Still better than Jacksonville. Call him a malcontent because your org. is classless and clueless. SMH. Dont defend the Jags incompetence. Its a bad look.

      • You chased Jalen out too. Fournette is next. Calais Gone. But its YN’s fault. Not the common denominator which is your sad excuse of an NFL team.

        • Haha are you a raiders fan whose feelings got hurt? Ok where to begin with you. Jalen was a mouth off jerk who is only about himself. He tried to attack his head coach. Yeah Iโ€™ll take 2 firsts for him and LA Rams still may not be able to sign him. So they can have fun with that. Fournette? You can have him, heโ€™s lazy, sleeps during meetings and has maturity issues, which has been chronicled. Calais is the only good one Jags fans donโ€™t want to see go, and it was a cost move. And Now onto Ngokoue. The Jaguars got rid of the issue he had (fired Tom Coughlin) and he is still complaining. Thanks for paying attention, since your are clueless just like any other lazy national media analyst.
