Report: Raiders Interested In Former Texans C Chris Myers

Alex Marvez of FOX Sports is reporting that the Raiders are interested in former Texans C Chris Myers.

  • Marvez adds that the Raiders interest stems from the fact that Stefen Wisniewski could depart in free agency.

The idea of Wisniewski signing with a new team has come up numerous times in the past few months, and given that there has been no reported progress towards a contract extension, it seems very likely that the Raiders will be in the market for a center.

Some have mentioned that they could target Chiefs C Rodney Hudson, who is considered to be the best available center in this year’s free agent class. Oakland has plenty of cap space to work with, so they could really make him a huge offer if they wanted to go that route.

Myers, 33, was released earlier in the week and cleared $6 million in available cap space for the Texans.

The Broncos seem like a team that could make a lot of sense for Myers given his ties to Gary Kubiak. In the end, I could see him being a great value signing for a team.

Pro Football Focus rated Myers as the No. 16 center in the league last season out of 41 qualifying players. It’s worth mentioning that he hasn’t missed a single game in the last nine years.
