Report: Raiders Interview TEs Coach Bobby Johnson For HC Job

According to Adam Caplan, the Raiders interviewed TEs coach Bobby Johnson earlier this week as part of their head-coaching search.

By interviewing Johnson, the Raiders have fulfilled the Rooney Rule requirements.

Josina Anderson reports that the NFL informed the Fritz Pollard Alliance that the Raiders actually interviewed two minority candidates to meet the Rooney Rule requirements.

As for Johnson, Caplan says he has command, is a good teacher, and players respond to him.

It’s clear that this is Jon Gruden’s job if he wants it and all indications are that he’s going to accept the offer when/if it’s made.

Johnson, 44, began his NFL coaching career with the Bills back in 2010 as their assistant offensive line coach. He had brief stints with the Jaguars and Lions before departing to join the Raiders’ coaching staff in 2015 as their tight ends coach.

We’ll have more regarding the Raiders’ job as the news is available.
