Report: Redskins Discussing An Extension With DL Chris Baker

Tarik El-Bashir of CSNWashington reports the Redskins recently started talks with DL Chris Baker regarding a long-term contract.

In recent days, the Redskins have reportedly spoken with a number of free agent defensive players including OLB Brian Orakpo, ILB Perry Riley and CB DeAngelo Hall.

El-Bashir adds that Baker was one of the players singled out by defensive coordinator Jim Haslett as an offseason priority for the Redskins.

Baker, 26, was a restricted free agent last year and ultimately signed a one-year, $1.323 million contract with Washington. In 2013, he appeared in 15 games and had 28 tackles including one sack.

He has played some defensive end as well, but really doesn’t offer all that much a pass-rusher.
