Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports reports that impending free agent TE Fred Davis is facing a six-game suspension.
- La Canfora adds that Davis’ agent, Drew Rosenhaus, declined comment
Davis, 28, has had a history of failed drug tests during his time in the NFL, so this is hardly the type of things that’s going to help him secure even a modest contract on the open market.
Davis previously served a four-game suspension for a failed drug test, so it appears as though this is another violation of the league’s substance-abuse policy.
Last year, Davis played sparingly for Redskins and was relegated to a backup role after the emergence of rookie TE Jordan Reed. In ten games, Davis caught seven passes for 70 yards and a touchdown.
We have Davis listed as the No. 96 player in our Top 100 Free Agents list, but that figures to change.
