Seahawks Release DE Chris Clemons

Albert Breer reports that the Seahawks have released veteran DE Chris Clemons.

  • Breer adds that the Seahawks will free up $7.5 million in cap room with this move.
  • Ian Rapoport reported a few day ago that Clemons was now “in danger” of being released now that they have reached an agreement on a four-year deal with DE Michael Bennett.

Clemons, 32, had one year remaining on his three-year, $22 million contract that included $10 million guaranteed.

He suffered a serious knee injury at the end of the 2012 season, but managed to return last year.

Ryan O’Halloran of the Florida Times Union floated the idea of the Jaguars possibly being an option for Clemons if he were to be released, so we’ll have to see if he has any visits lined up in the next few days.
