ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that the Steelers are releasing veteran OLBย LaMarr Woodley.

Woodley has been rumored to be on the chopping block since the Steelers elected to use their transition tag on OLB Jasonย Worilds a few weeks ago.
Woodley had a cap figure ofย $13.6 million for the 2014 season. By designating him as a June-1 release, the Steelers will free up $8 million cap space, according toย OverTheCap.com.
- Jason Fitzgerald mentions that the Steelers won’t receive this cap space until June 2 and will carryย $8.58 million in dead next year.
Woodley, 29, dealt with numerous injuries this year which limited him to appearing in just 11 games. Since signing aย six-year deal worth $61.5 million back in 2011,ย Woodley hasย missed 14 games due injury.
In 2013,ย Woodley 36 tackles and five sacks to go along with a forced fumble and a fumble recovery.
