ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that the Steelers are releasing veteran OLB LaMarr Woodley.
- Schefter adds that Woodley will be designated as a post-June 1 release.

Woodley has been rumored to be on the chopping block since the Steelers elected to use their transition tag on OLB Jason Worilds a few weeks ago.
Woodley had a cap figure of $13.6 million for the 2014 season. By designating him as a June-1 release, the Steelers will free up $8 million cap space, according to OverTheCap.com.
- Jason Fitzgerald mentions that the Steelers won’t receive this cap space until June 2 and will carry $8.58 million in dead next year.
Woodley, 29, dealt with numerous injuries this year which limited him to appearing in just 11 games. Since signing a six-year deal worth $61.5 million back in 2011, Woodley has missed 14 games due injury.
In 2013, Woodley 36 tackles and five sacks to go along with a forced fumble and a fumble recovery.
