Report: Patriots Sign WR Austin Collie

Field Yates of ESPN Boston reports that the have signed veteran WR Austin Collie.

  • Yates adds that New England will need to clear a roster spot for Collie, which could be done by placing DT Vince Wilfork on injured reserve.

Collie, who has worked out with numerous teams over the past few months, was last with the 49ers before he was released in the weeks leading up to the start of the regular season.

The 27-year old receiver has suffered a number of concussions over his five-year career, which has most likely played a role in teams shying away from him.

ESPN’s Ed Werder reports that the Tennessee Titans will bring in veteran WR Austin Collie for a workout Tuesday.

  • John Glennon reports that the Titans also worked out WRs Jordan Shipley, Dorin Dickerson and Isaiah Williams Tuesday.

With WR Kenny Britt dealing with a rib injury, this could be an indication that his status Week 5 is somewhat questionable, despite the fact that Britt has said he’ll be ready to go this weekend. Even if Collie is signed, it’s doubtful that he would take on any sizable role in the team’s offense.
