Report: Washington Not Planning To Re-Sign S Brandon Meriweather

Dianna Marie Russini of NBC Washington reports that the Redskins do not plan on bringing back S Brandon Meriweather.

There was talk that Washington was likely to move on without Meriweather next year, so this really shouldn’t come as much of a surprise.

Meriweather, 31, signed a one-year contract worth $1 million with the Redskins last year and will be an unrestricted free agent in a matter of weeks.

In 2014, Meriweather appeared in 10 games and recorded 55 tackles, three sacks, three forced fumbles, a recovery and three pass defenses. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 60 safety in the league out of 87 qualifying players. His low rating is due to his struggles in coverage last season.
