Sage Rosenfels Traded To The Giants

The Vikings website mentions that the deal includes Darius Reynaud and the Giants will send a 2011 draft pick along with another pick in 2012.

The Giants have pulled the trigger on acquiring backup quarterback Sage Rosenfels from the Minnesota Vikings. This report comes from Alex Marvez of FoxSports.com who mentions that the deal is for an undisclosed draft pick.

Rosenfels has been the subject of a few rumors throughout the Vikings preseason. Most notably, that he was the player that decided to comment about Brett Favre’s lack of respect for head coach Brad Childress and his ability to run the west-coast offense. Given that Favre is back with the Vikings and the team already has said that Tarvaris Jackson will be the teams backup quarterback heading into the season, Sage and his contract have become more than expendable.

The Giants have been in search of someone to back up Eli Manning since Jim Sorgi went down early on in the preseason and Sage should be able to fill in for the Giants if needed but they will probably hope that he doesn’t have to see any regular-season action.
