Nick Underhill of NewOrleansFootball.com reports that the Saints have made an offer to Patriots free agent LB Jamie Collins. However, Underhill says it might take more to close the deal.
- The Athletic’s Larry Holder previously mentions that Collins is a name to keep an eye on for the Saints this offseason.
- Mike Triplett has also heard the Saints could have interest in Collins, but his asking price would have to make sense for them.
Collins, 30, is a former second-round pick of the Patriots back in 2013. The Patriots traded him to the Browns for a conditional fourth-round pick in 2016.
The Browns then signed Collins to a four-year, $50 million contract that contained $26 million guaranteed and a $5 million signing bonus. However, the Browns cut him last year and Collins returned to New England a few months later.
In 2019, Collins appeared in all 16 games for the Patriots and recorded 81 tackles, seven sacks, three interceptions, a defensive touchdown, three forced fumbles, a recovery and seven passes defended. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 16 receiver out of 89 qualifying players.
We have him included in our Top 100 – 2020 Free Agents list.
