Saints Place CB Delvin Breaux On Injured Reserve

Field Yates of ESPN reports that the Saints have officially placed CB Delvin Breaux on injured reserve Tuesday.

Breaux is a candidate to return later on in the season.

This comes a few weeks after a report mentioned that the Saints were interested in trading Breaux, given that he couldn’t stay healthy.

Breaux, 27, wound up signing on with the Saints as an undrafted free agent back in May of 2015. He’s currently in the third year of his three-year, $1.587 million contract and stands to make a base salary of $615,000 for the 2017 season before becoming a restricted free agent in 2018.

According toย OverTheCap.com,ย trading Breaux would free up $615,000 of available cap space while creating $4,000 in dead money.

In 2016, Breaux appeared in six games and recorded 21 tackles, no interceptions and a pass defense for the Saints.
