Mike Triplett of ESPN reports that the Saints are releasing P Brandon Fields on Tuesday.
- Triplett mentions that this likely bodes well for Thomas Morstead, who hurt his leg a few weeks ago.
Fields, 31, is a former seventh-round pick of the Dolphins back in 2007. He had two years remaining on his five-year, $14.424 million contract when the Dolphins released him at the start of the season.
New Orleans elected to sign him to a contract a few weeks ago after Morstead hurt his leg.
This season, Fields has appeared in two games for the Saints, totaling 391 yards punting on 10 attempts to go along with two touchbacks.
