The New Orleans Saints have signed WR Tommylee Lewis to their active roster on Saturday and promoted WR Austin Carr, WR Juwan Johnson and OL Will Clapp, according to Nick Underhill.
Carr, Johnson and Clapp will all revert back to the Saints’ practice squad on Monday without having to clear waivers.
Lewis, 27, wound up signing on with the Saints as an undrafted free agent out of Northern Illinois back in 2016. He played out the final year of his three-year, $1.62 million contract, but the Saints declined to tender him offer as a restricted free agent./
From there, Lewis agreed to a contract with the Lions, but was later placed on the PUP list and waived. He returned to the Saints on a futures contract this past January.
The Panthers signed Lewis to a contract a few months later before eventually moving on. He returned to the Saints’ practice squad soon after.
In 2018, Lewis appeared in seven games for the Saints and caught three passes for 60 yards receiving and one touchdown. He also rushed twice for 10 yards and totaled 69 kick return yards.
