Saints TE Josh Hill Suffers Broken Fibula

Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that Saints TE Josh Hill suffered a broken fibula during Sunday’s loss to the Lions.

  • Nick Underhill confirms the report and adds that Hill is believed to also have an ankle injury that could be a high-ankle sprain.

This injury will likely cost Hill the remainder of the season and lead to him being placed on injured reserve in the coming days.

Hill, 26, signed on with the Saints as an undrafted free agent out of Idaho State back in 2013. He signed a three-year, $7.1 million contract with the Saints back in March, which included $3.25 million guaranteed and stands to make base salaries of $750,000 and $1.65 million over the next two years of the agreement.

In 2016, Hill appeared in nine games and caught 15 passes for 149 yards receiving and one touchdown for the Saints. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 47 tight end out of 63 qualifying players.
