Saints Release TE Tom Crabtree, Promote LB Todd Davis

The New Orleans Saints have once again released veteran TE Tom Crabtree, according to the NFL transaction release.

  • The Saints promoted LB Todd Davis from their practice squad to take his place on their roster.

Crabtree, 28, has already been released twice since joining the team just a few weeks ago. He signed a two-year, $1.6 million contract with the Buccaneers back in 2013, but he lasted just a little over a year with the team before he was cut loose back this past May.

Last year, Crabtree appeared in seven games and caught four passes for 21 yards receiving and a touchdown.

Davis, 22, has also been released and re-signed on multiple occasions in the past few months. He went undrafted out of Sacramento State last year and has only spent time with the Saints.

During his three-year college career, he recorded 330 tackles, 9.5 sacks, three interceptions, four forced fumbles and a recovery.
