Saints WR Michael Thomas Expected To Miss ‘Several’ Weeks With Ankle Injury

Tom Pelissero of NFL Media reports that Saints WR Michael Thomas‘ high-ankle injury is worse than originally believed, and he’s now expected to miss “several” weeks.Michael Thomas

Pelissero mentioned Monday that this was something Thomas believed he could play through.

However, it seems likely that New Orleans will place him on injured reserve, considering that any player can be activated after three weeks this year.

Thomas sustained the injury in the fourth quarter of Sunday’s win over the Buccaneers after he was rolled up on a bit.

Thomas, 27, was drafted by the Saints in the second round out of Ohio State in 2016. He was entering the final year of a four-year, $5.118 million rookie contract when he agreed to a five-year, $100 million extension last July.

In 2020, Thomas has appeared in one game for the Saints and caught three passes for 17 yards receiving and no touchdowns.
