Sam Darnold Hoping To Return In Week 5

Jets QB Sam Darnold said during an appearance on “The Michael Kay Show” that his goal is to return for the team’s Week 5 matchup against the Eagles.

“The goal is to be back Week 5 against Philly,” Darnold said, per Andy Vasquez. “...I know we’ve got our work cut out for us, but if we can go on a little run anything is possible.”

Darnold mentioned that he’s feeling better and has only lost a few pounds since being diagnosed with mono.

The contract will also include a fifth-year option for the Jets to pick up in 2021.

In 2018, Darnold appeared in 13 games for the Jets and completed 57.7 percent of his passes for 2.865 yards to go along with 17 touchdowns and 15 interceptions. He also rushed for 138 yards and a touchdown.
