Report: Seahawks DE Chris Clemons Has Torn ACL, Done For The Year

Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network reports that Seahawks DE Chris Clemons does in fact have a torn ACL and meniscus.

Clemons is set to meet with Dr. James Andrews on Monday and is out for the remainder of the playoffs.

This is a pretty tough loss for a team that appears to be peaking at the best time possible. Even with the loss of Clemons, Seattle has to feel good about their chances against the Falcons next weekend.

According to Jason La Canfora, the Seattle Seahawks fear that DE Chris Clemons suffered an ACL tear during Sunday’s win over Washington.

La Canfora adds that Clemons will undergo an MRI on Monday, but it seems very likely that his 2012 season is over.

Clemons was the only player to suffer a knee injury on Sunday due to the poor field conditions. Head coach Pete Carroll mentioned that he’s concerned about Clemons’ injury and with good reason. Seattle’s defense has been a very sound unit and a lot of their success has come from the play of Clemons.

The Seahawks will have to look to rookie DE Bruce Irvin to provide a pass rush against the Falcons next weekend.
