Seahawks Met With Michael Bennett’s Agents Regarding New Deal

Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that the agent forย DE Michael Bennett met with Seahawks’ brass about a new deal.

Bennett was looking for a new contract from the Seahawks as far back as last year, but they were reportedly reluctant to broach the subject, especially with S Kam Chancellor also looking for a new deal.

However, it appears as though the Seahawks are at least willing to speak with his reps to see that they can do.

Bennett, 30, signedย four-year, $32 million contract that included $16 million guaranteed with the Seahawksย a few years ago.ย He still has another twoย years remaining on the agreement to go along with base salaries of $4 million (2016), andย $6 million (2017).

In 2015, Bennett appeared in all 16 games and recorded 52ย tackles, 10ย sacks, and twoย forced fumbles.ย Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 5 edge defender out 110ย qualifying players.

We’ll have more a new deal forย Bennett as the news is available.
