Seahawks Officially Fire DC Kris Richard

On Tuesday, the Seattle Seahawks announced a number of coaching moves that had been previously reported including firing DC Kris Richard.

  • Seattle also hired Brian Schottenheimer as their offensive coordinator, Ken Norton Jr. as their defensive coordinator, and Mike Solari as their OL coach.
  • Seahawks LBs coach Michael Barrow was also let go.

Ian Rapoport first reported that the Seahawks were willing to allow Richard out of his contract to pursue other opportunities. Rapoport added that Seahawks HC Pete Carroll believes Richard would benefit from experiencing something new.

Richard, 38, began his coaching career with the Seahawks back in 2008 as a graduate assistant. He worked his way up to defensive in 2015 and spent the past three seasons in charge of their defense.

In 2017, the Seahawks’ defense ranked No. 11 in yards allowed, No. 13 in points allowed, No. 19 in rushing yards allowed and No. 6 in passing yards allowed.
