Heaps, 25, originally signed on with the Jets as an undrafted free agent out of Miami in May of 2015. However, he was placed on waivers as they were coming out of the preseason.
The Seahawks signed him to a contract shortly after last year’s NFL draft, but cut him loose during the preseason. Heaps had a short stint on the Seahawks’ practice squad last year.
Heaps has yet to appear in an NFL game.
